First Artist-in-Residence complete

Our first artist-in-residence, illustrator Helen McCallum, has completed her residency! A total of 12 artists were selected at the beginning of the year, to develop portraits of the local community over three years, with each residency lasting three months and the artist based in a studio at ECDC’s Community Hub in West Kensington.

Helen’s artworks celebrate local heroes who contribute to the community in unexpected and often unacknowledged ways. The drawings which have been created in crayon, capture a range of community figures - from North End Road Market stallholders to local police officers and were on display at The Gallery, 26 Lillie Road until last week.

Our next artist Sol Golden has now taken up residency. London-based Malawian artist Sol, specialises in large-scale paintings, community murals and sculptures and is running weekly classes for the community every Tuesday from 5.30pm – 7.30pm at the ECDC Community Hub on Aisgill Avenue. Classes are free to attend.
