Young Local Artists

This March we launched a new hoarding design at Warwick Road Apron which shows a vast display of portraits shot by youngsters who are part of Young Artists, a photography programme founded by multi-award-winning artist Alison Jackson. All the portraits were taken by young people aged 4-24 who live in Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Many of them had never held a camera before joining the initiative which inspires, educates, and provides mentorship and opportunities.

The Art of Change, Warwick Road Apron

In June 2023 as part of Kensington + Chelsea Festival, West London mural artist and winner of the 2020 Chelsea Arts Club Trustee Award, Lucy Oates along with the local community painted a large multi-coloured floor mural on Warwick Road Apron. Lucy’s artwork was been inspired by a wish to transform ordinary spaces into a bright, playful area for people to spend time at and enjoy.

The Pleasure Garden, Warwick Road Apron

In 2021 ECDC opened up part of the site on Warwick Road, where the former entrance to the Exhibition Centre used to be. This temporary space played host to an art installation ‘The Pleasure Garden’, created in partnership with the Kensington + Chelsea Festival, and Underbelly.

We are now starting to explore ideas on how this space can best be used next. We want the future of this space, which we call ‘Warwick Road Apron’ to be shaped by the local community and so we are asking for your ideas and suggestions – get in touch if you have a great idea!
